Article ID: 905979 - Last Review: February 28, 2007 - Revision: 1.2 Description of the upgrade process when you install Antigen on a computer that is running an earlier version of AntigenINTRODUCTIONThis article describes the upgrade process that occurs when you install Sybari Antigen on a computer that is running an earlier version of Antigen. MORE INFORMATIONWhen you run Setup.exe from the installation folder, Setup detects the current version of Antigen and of Microsoft Exchange Server. Setup can upgrade the following versions of Antigen:
Typically, the upgrade process is completed in less than fifteen minutes. The longest part of the upgrade process is the time that is required to stop and to restart the Exchange Server services. If you do not want to restart the Exchange Server services during the upgrade process, you can manually restart the Exchange Server services at a more convenient time. However, Antigen may not correctly function until the Exchange Server services have been restarted. If you are using the Antigen Hot Upgrade feature, only the Antigen services will be restarted. Therefore, the upgrade process will be shorter. The Exchange Server services will be restarted only if the Antigen Hot Upgrade feature states that critical files were upgraded and that Antigen must restart the Exchange Server services. The Antigen Hot Upgrade feature is available only in Antigen 8.0. After the upgrade process is completed, the following configuration settings are maintained:
Note Antigen may prompt you to restart the server to complete the upgrade process. For example, Antigen 7.5 and Antigen 8.0 require that the latest versions of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) and of MSJet are installed on the server. Antigen Setup includes the MDAC and the MSJet upgrades. If the server is not running the latest versions of MDAC and of MSJet, Setup prompts you to install these upgrades. You must restart the computer after these upgrades are installed. After you restart the server, Antigen Setup will continue until the upgrade process is completed. APPLIES TO
