FIX: Error message when you try to import large decimal values and large numeric values by using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 1.0: "The numerical value is too large to fit into a 96 bit decimal"

SYMPTOMS

When you try to import large decimal values and large numeric values by using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 version 1.0, you may receive the following error message:
The numerical value is too large to fit into a 96 bit decimal. (System.Data)

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 1.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.
