SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

You use Microsoft System Center Updates Publisher (SCUP) 3.0 to import software update catalogs.
You use both Microsoft Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) and System Center Configuration Manager 2007 to deploy software updates.
The command line of the imported catalog contains a /qn switch for Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) updates or for Windows Installer patch (MSP) updates.

In this scenario, the software updates cannot be deployed successfully. Additionally, WSUS may report that the command line is invalid.

After you apply this hotfix, SCUP will automatically remove the /qn switch or the -qn switch from the command line for MSI updates and for MSP updates during the import process. Then, SCUP and WSUS will be able to deploy MSI updates and MSP updates.

After you apply this hotfix, you must republish your updates in WSUS.

To apply this hotfix, you must have System Center Updated Publisher 3.0 installed on the computer.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. Note Removal of this hotfix is not supported. To remove the hotfix, you have to uninstall the System Center Update Publisher, and then you have to reinstall the product.
