FIX: Error message when you synchronize the subscription of a transactional replication from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005: "Property AnsiNullsStatus is not available for UserDefinedFunction '<Function_Name>'"

Consider the following scenario:

• You configure a transactional replication in Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
• The publication contains a multistatement table-valued function.
• The distributor of the publication is configured to use an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
• You create a subscription to the publication in SQL Server 2005.
• You synchronize the subscription.

In this scenario, when the Snapshot Agent generates the snapshot file, you receive the following error message:

The fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 5. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Generate the snapshot file by using the Snapshot.exe command prompt utility in SQL Server 2000. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start SQL Server Management Studio, and then connect to the instance of SQL Server 2005.
2. Open the SQL Server Agent job that generates the snapshot file.
3. Open the second step of the SQL Server Agent job, and then note the command.
4. At the command prompt on the server that is running the instance of SQL Server 2000, locate the COM folder. The following path is the default path of the COM folder:
   C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\COM
5. Run the following command:
   Snapshot.exe Command that you copied in step 3

Method 2

Remove the multistatement table-valued function from the publication.

Method 3

Configure the distributor of the publication to run on an instance of SQL Server 2000.
