SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
You use Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 to back up a Microsoft SharePoint Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) site.
You try to recover a random file, such as https://site1, from this SharePoint site.
In this scenario, the recovery operation fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
The recovery jobs for SharePoint Farm <farm name> that started at <time and date>, with the destination of <destination name>, have completed. Most or all jobs failed to recover the requested data.

DPM was unable to export the item https://<site name>/<path>/<file name> from the recovery farm. (ID 32003 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990E14)

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Data Protection Manager 2007 does not parse SSL sites (https://) correctly. This causes the wrong path to be generated for the Web site.
