Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) class does not return the value of the
PATH environment variable as expected. This issue
occurs if the PATH environment variable consists of more than 1,024 characters.
Applications that rely on the Win32_Environment WMI class to return the PATH environment variable may not work correctly. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the PATH environment variable is
limited to 1,024 characters. To work correctly,
the PATH environment variable can consist of up to 1,023
characters and a terminating null character. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
