Symptoms

You apply update 948515 on a computer that is running Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1). After you do this, you may experience some problems when you try to use the Vhdmount.exe tool to mount Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) files. For example, when you run the vhdmount /m VHD_file command or the vhdmount /p VHD_file command, you may receive the following error message:
The specified operation could not be completed as an unexpected error has occurred.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Vhdstor.sys driver is not upgraded successfully to version 1.1.623.0 after the installation of update 948515.
