SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated August 25, 2009.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • In the Microsoft Exchange Server Messaging API (MAPI) Editor tool (MfcMapi.exe), you can convert files from .msg (MAPI) format to .eml (MIME) format. However, MfcMapi.exe takes more than 10 minutes to convert a message that contains a large amount of lines to an .eml file.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a new e-mail message and then save it to the Drafts folder.
    • You add new contents to the message body and then send the message.
In this scenario, the message in your Sent Items folder or in the recipient's Inbox folder does not contain the new contents.
  • You set the value for the
    DisableToDoBar
registry entry to 1 under the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\ToDoBar
Note After that, the To-Do bar is disabled in Outlook 2007. However, when you try to re-enable the To-Do bar by setting the value for the
    DisableToDoBar
registry entry to 0, the To-Do bar is still disabled.
  • In Outlook 2007, you cannot rename the shortcuts for shared calendars.
  • The PropertyChange event is invoked on a custom meeting form even if the meeting that was created based on the custom meeting form is already deleted.
  • When you make a query for free or for busy information in a multiple forest scenario, the Autodiscover URL from the external forest entry is used instead of the Autodiscover URL from the local forest entry.
  • When you print multiple HTML e-mail messages in Outlook 2007, the font size on the second page of the printout is very small.
  • In Outlook 2007, a delegate opens a manager's mailbox and then sends an e-mail message on behalf of the manager. After that, when the delegate opens the Sent Items folder in his or her own mailbox, the From line displays "delegate name" instead of "delegate name" on behalf of "manager name" unexpectedly.
  • Consider the following scenario. You connect to a voice mail inbox on the Unified Messaging (UM) server by using an Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) e-mail account. When the Inbox folder for the IMAP e-mail account is active in Outlook 2007, and you delete the last voice mail from a telephone, you receive the following error message in Outlook 2007:
    Failed to Update Headers
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a user profile in Outlook 2007.
    • You apply one of the following updates for Outlook 2007:
      • The Outlook 2007 hotfix package that is dated February 24, 2009.
      • 2007 Microsoft Office suite Service Pack 2 (SP2).
In this scenario, when you run Outlook 2007 for the first time and then try to use the automation code to log on to that profile, Outlook 2007 crashes.
  • You open Outlook 2007 from a POP profile or from an IMAP profile. You set a rule to automatically run a script that saves incoming e-mail messages to the local disk. In this case, when you receive a new message, a message box shows that the rule is running. However, when you click OK on the message box, Outlook 2007 crashes.
  • Outlook 2007 crashes when you try to preview or to print contacts in card style.
  • When Outlook 2007 connects to a domain controller server or to a global catalog server that is running Windows Server 2003, you add a custom address list. Then, you connect Outlook 2007 to a domain controller server or to a global catalog server that is running Windows Server 2008. In this case, the custom address list is missing.
  • In the Hierarchical Address Book (HAB), the Location column is blank.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • In Outlook 2007, you click the Use Cached Exchange Mode check box to clear it.
    • You create and then save a contact whose full name consists of double-byte character set (DBCS) characters.
    • You notice that the full name on the contact card displays in the last name/first name order as expected.
    • You change the Company field of the contact.
In this scenario, the full name on the contact card displays in the first name/last name order unexpectedly.
  • The display name of the attached message is incorrect in S/MIME messages. This problem occurs when the subject of the attached message contains a colon (:) character or a backslash (\) character.
  • The alerts and the workflow messages from a SharePoint Web site cannot be treated as shared messages in Outlook 2007. In this case, the Connect to this Task List button and the Preview this Task List button are missing from the messages. This problem occurs after you apply 2007 Office suite SP2.
  • After you apply 2007 Office suite SP2, Outlook 2007 does not finish the reconciliation process for the .ost file. In this case, when you try to search for a message in Outlook 2007, the results are incomplete.
  • In Outlook 2007, you install a spam confidence level (SCL) extension form that contains many properties. When you try to customize the view of Outlook 2007 to show all the properties of the SCL extension form, the form properties are not listed in the Available fields list in the Show Fields dialog box.

This problem occurs when the total size of all properties that are contained in the SCL extension form exceeds 8 kilobytes (KB).
  • 974334 When you reply to or forward a signed or an encrypted e-mail message, the message is sent without encryption in Outlook 2007
  • 974413 Read receipts are not related to sent messages when you use a draft message as a template to send e-mail messages in Outlook 2007
