SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft XML for Analysis Services provider (XML/A) to return the members of a dimension that has more than one hierarchy defined, the XML result set does not contain the hierarchy name. The result set only contains the dimension name.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Update information

For the updated version of the XMLA provider (msxaserv.dll) to correctly return the hierarchy information, the OLE DB for OLAP provider (msolap80.dll) must be version 8.00.0806 or a later version. To obtain the updated version of the OLE DB for OLAP provider, contact Microsoft Product Support Services.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.
