SYMPTOMS

When you use Windows Internet Explorer 7 to visit a Web page, the computer may respond very slowly as the Phishing Filter evaluates Web page contents.

Note The Phishing Filter is a new feature in Internet Explorer 7.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when one or more of the following conditions are true:
The Web page contains many frames.
You browse many frames in a short time.
Internet Explorer 7 evaluates the whole Web page when you browse a frame. Therefore, CPU usage may be very high.

RESOLUTION

Security update information

To resolve this problem, install the most current cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 7. To install the most current updates, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file. In addition, the file is digitally signed. A digital signature helps prevent undetected tampering of the file.

Prerequisites

To install this update, you must have Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 installed.

Restart requirement

You may have to restart the computer after you install this update.

Update replacement information

This update does not replace any other updates.

Note Updates to Internet Explorer are cumulative. Therefore, future security updates for Windows Internet Explorer 7 will also include the changes that this update introduces.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
1.Start Internet Explorer 7.
2.On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3.Click the Advanced tab, and then click Disable Phishing Filter in the Settings list.
4.Click Apply, and then click OK.
5.Restart Internet Explorer 7.
