OFF2000: Office Installation Program Starts When You Use Camera in USB Port

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use a digital camera that is plugged into the computer's Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, the Microsoft Office installation program may start unexpectedly and the live (or stored) camera image does not appear.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true:
  • You are using Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me).
  • You are using a digital camera (still or motion) plugged into the USB port.
  • Office 2000 is installed with the Installed on First Use option selected.
  • Not all of the Office 2000 products have been installed yet.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
