mIRC Version 5.9 Causes an Error Message in Windows XP

SYMPTOMS

When you are using the mIRC version 5.9 program, you may receive the following error message:

mIRC has encountered a problem and must be closed. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If the error message is still displayed and you want to see the data that the error report contains, click the click here link at the bottom of the message box. You then see error signature information that may be similar to the following:

   App Name  App Version  Module Name  Module Version  Offset
   ------------------------------------------------------------
   mirc.exe  5.9.1.0      wow32.dll    5.1.2600.0      000038c7

CAUSE

This issue may occur because mIRC version 5.9 is not completely compatible with Windows XP.
