Some Windows 2000 Spooler Hotfixes May Cause a Conflict with SP3 for Windows 2000Article ID: 326801 - View products that this article applies to. This article was previously published under Q326801 SYMPTOMS
If you install a post-Service Pack 3 (SP3) version of any of the Windows 2000 hotfixes that are listed in the "More Information" section of this article on a computer on which SP3 for Windows 2000 is installed, or if you install SP3 for Windows 2000 on a computer on which these post-SP3 hotfixes are installed, you may experience either of the following symptoms:
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because post-SP3 versions of the hotfixes may not include the latest updates and fixes that are compatible with the installation of SP3 for Windows 2000.
RESOLUTION
The post-SP3 versions of the Windows 2000 hotfix that are listed in the "More Information" section of this article have been repackaged and are now compatible with SP3 for Windows 2000.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix. Note If additional issues occur or if any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for this specific hotfix.
