SYMPTOMS

When you distribute a Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP-based image on which Windows Media Player (WMP) 9 has been installed, by using the Sysprep utility, you are not prompted to obtain a license for WMP 9 when you next play content that is protected by the digital rights management (DRM) feature.

You expect to be prompted to obtain a license before being able to play content that is protected by DRM. This symptom may occur if the following conditions exist:
  1. You use WMP 9 to play content protected by DRM.
  2. You prepare the operating system image by using Sysprep.
  3. You set up the imaged operating system, and then play DRM content by using WMP 9.
When you run Sysprep after having obtained a license for DRM-protected WMP 9 content, the licensing is not removed from the operating system image.
