SYMPTOMS

On a Windows XP-based computer that has Active Directory directory services administrative tools installed, when you right-click a computer object in the Users and Computers Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in and then click Manage, you receive the following error message:
Computer Computer_Name cannot be managed. The network path was not found. Choose "Connect to another computer" from the action menu to manage a different computer.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
