Support WebCast: Credential Roaming Basics

Expand all | Collapse all
Session Summary

This Support WebCast will talk about Credential Roaming. Until now, the only option that was previously available in managed environments was to use roaming user profiles or smart cards. When a user is logged on to a domain-joined computer, you can use roaming user profiles and smart cards to move a single set of certificates and private keys for that user.

Both solutions are very expensive from a deployment and maintenance standpoint. Credential roaming has been developed to maintain consistency between certificates and keys on multiple client computers and Active Directory.

This is a Level 200 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=gp;en-us;webcastlevels&sd=gn) session that was recorded Thursday, 26 April 2007 and presented by Tom Ausburne. Tom Ausburne joined Microsoft in May 1998. He has been involved in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 for the last five years. Tom currently works as a support escalation engineer on the Enterprise Platform Support Directory Services team in Product Support Services. His responsibilities include supporting the Active Directory service for Premier customers, and developing and delivering training for other Directory Services support engineers.

Seth Scruggs joined Microsoft in January 2003. He is currently a support escalation engineer on the Enterprise Platform Support Directory Services team in Product Support Services, and is considered a subject matter expert in the areas of Certificate Services and PKI.
