SYMPTOMS

Files and folders that are discarded during conflict resolution are intermittently not moved to the "Conflict and Deleted" folder as expected. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

You have a server that is running Windows Server 2003 R2.
The server is configured for Domain Name service (DNS) replication.
There are three servers that are running the Distributed File System Replication (DFSR) service.
The three servers are located in different sites.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when locally-installed antivirus software scans folders that are marked as "private" by the DFSR service.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, configure the antivirus software to exclude folders that are marked as "private" by the DFSR service.
