SYMPTOMSThe Active Directory Application Mode service may crash on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and that has a large scale Active Directory Application Mode instance database. An example of a large scale database is a database that is over 10 gigabytes (GB). This issue occurs when a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) query is handled.
Additionally, when the issue occurs, the following event log is added to the related Active Directory Application Mode event log: Event Type: Warning
CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Active Directory Application Mode service manages search duplicate buffers incorrectly. This behavior causes the Active Directory Application Mode service to crash.
