This article describes how to disable the net crawl functionality that is included with Windows Millennium Edition (Me).

To disable the net crawl functionality:
  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
  3. Under Advanced settings, click to clear the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box.
  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
NOTE: If the preceding steps do not disable the net crawl functionality, change the NoNetCrawling data value to 1 in the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
