SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server, you receive an error message that resembles the following when you try to enlist two orchestrations at the same time: 
Could not enlist orchestration 'OrchestrationName, OrchestrationName Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=780b3672abbbdefd'. Could not enlist orchestration 'OrchestrationName, OrchestrationName Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=780b3672abbbdefd'. Value does not fall within the expected range. (Microsoft.BizTalk.SnapIn.Framework)
The Application log may also log the following error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: XLANG/s
Event Category: None
Event ID: 0

Description: ArgumentException exception occurred while the XLANG/s runtime enlisted a service.
Error message: Value does not fall within the expected range.

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You try to enlist the orchestrations or start the application in the BizTalk Server Administration Console or through the ExplorerOM object model.  
  • Each orchestration is bound to a different host.

RESOLUTION

Cumulative updated information

For BizTalk Server 2009, the hotfix that resolves this issue is included in Cumulative Update 1 for BizTalk Server 2009.

There are three versions of this hotfix:
  • BizTalk Server 2006
  • BizTalk Server 2006 R2
  • BizTalk Server 2009
