When you try to create a template from a Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2-based virtual machine in System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007, the job failsArticle ID: 942372 - View products that this article applies to. SYMPTOMSIn the Virtual Machine Manager Administrator Console of Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007, you try to create a new template from a Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based virtual machine. However, the job fails, and you receive the following error message: Error (608) Timeout occurred while waiting for Sysprep to finish processing on the virtual Machine. ... Recommended Action Ensure you are using the version of sysprep binaries that match with virtual machine's Windows version, and then try the operation again. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the versions of the Sysprep.exe file and of the Setupcl.exe file are incorrect. These two files are located in the following folder: VMM_Install\Sysprep\5.2.3790.3959 Note VMM_Install is the folder in which System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007 is installed.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain update 942372 from the following Microsoft Update Web site: http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate

WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, replace the Sysprep.exe file and the Setupcl.exe file by using the correct x86-based files for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2. To do this, follow these steps:
