When you start an MS-DOS-based version of PartitionMagic (from PowerQuest) on a Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition-based computer, the computer may stop responding and display either a black screen or the following error message:
You may also encounter problems when you install PartitionMagic, for example, you are unable to create a rescue disk or to finish Setup. When you restart from a rescue disk, you may receive the following error message:
This program does not run correctly on this version of Windows. To continue, click run program. To exit, click Cancel.
The following file is missing or corrupted: A:\Ifshlp.sys
The following file is missing or corrupted: A:\System\Vmm32.vxd
Type the name of the windows loader (e.g., C:\Windows\System\Vmm32.vxd)
This behavior can occur because PartitionMagic is an MS-DOS-based program. Windows Millennium Edition (Me) does not provide real-mode MS-DOS support.
To work around this behavior, start the computer by using a Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98 Startup disk, and then run PartitionMagic from a command prompt.
PowerQuest is upgrading PartitionMagic so that it can work with Windows Me. For information on possible updates to PartitionMagic, go to the following PowerQuest Web site at:
