This step-by-step article describes how to add components to an Exchange 2000 Server installation or an Exchange Server 2003 installation.
Requirements
- On a server that runs Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003, log on as Administrator.
- Insert the Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server CD or the Exchange Server 2003 CD into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
Add Exchange 2000 Server Components
- Start the Exchange 2000 Setup program from the \Setup\i386 folder on the installation CD-ROM.
- In the Welcome to the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Installation Wizard screen, click Next.
- In the Component Selection screen of the wizard:
- Under Action, in every row that contains a check mark, click Change.
- With the exception of the Microsoft Exchange Key Management service, click Install for all available rows that are not displaying any actions.
- Click Next.
- On the Licensing Agreement screen, click I Agree that…, and then click Next.
- On the Component Summary screen, click Next again.
- When the final screen of the wizard informs you that the installation is complete, click Finish. You have now installed Exchange 2000 Server with all possible components except the Key Management server.
Add Exchange Server 2003 Components
- Start the Exchange 2003 Setup program from the \Setup\i386 folder on the installation CD-ROM.
- In the Welcome to the Microsoft Exchange Installation Wizard screen, click Next.
- In the Component Selection screen of the wizard:
- Under Action, in every row that contains a check mark, click Change.
- With the exception of the Microsoft Exchange Key Management service, click Install for all available rows that are not displaying any actions.
- Click Next.
- On the Licensing Agreement screen, click I Agree that…, and then click Next.
- On the Component Summary screen, click Next again.
- When the final screen of the wizard informs you that the installation is complete, click Finish. You have now installed Exchange Server 2003 with all possible components except the Key Management server.
