SYMPTOMSWhen you try to open an e-mail message, close the e-mail message, open another e-mail message, and then open the first e-mail message again, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following: SysFader: Msimn.exe - Application Error:
The instruction at "0x77ec83c4" referenced memory at "0x00400067". The memory could not be "read". Msimn.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. Note You may have to repeat this process several times before you receive the error message. CAUSEThis behavior may occur if you receive an e-mail message that does not contain a From field but does contain a Sender field. RESOLUTION A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix. If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
