Symptoms

New connection events that are produced by an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 are not recorded in the trace. These events are traced by using Sqltrace.exe in SQL Server 7.0, Profiler.exe in Microsoft SQL Server 2000, or system stored procedures that permit the creation and configuration of traces by using Transact-SQL commands. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • One or more active traces are currently consuming events that are produced by the instance of SQL Server 7.0.
  • At least one of the active traces is configured to collect other types of events that are produced during the connection process but before the new connection event.
Any active trace that is monitoring the following event types can cause this problem:
  • Objects:Opened
  • Objects:Closed
  • Lock:Acquired
  • Lock:Released
  • Scan:Started
  • Scan:Closed
Note This problem is not limited to the event types that are mentioned here.
