SYMPTOMSInformation that is saved by using Personal Information Manager
(PIM) software, such as Microsoft Pocket Outlook or Microsoft Pocket Calendar, may be lost or
corrupted. CAUSE This problem can occur when you are using a Microsoft mobile device with third-party software that uses data encryption to help secure PIM information. Some third-party encryption programs may not work
correctly with a Pocket PC or with a Smartphone because Microsoft Windows CE 3.x and Microsoft Windows
CE.NET 4.x do not support encryption of PIM information. For example, some encryption programs are designed to encrypt PIM information when a Pocket PC or a Smartphone goes into suspended mode. The PIM information is decrypted when the Pocket PC or the Smartphone resumes. However, some Microsoft ActiveSync events, such as Scheduled Sync or Always-up-to-date Notifications, may initiate synchronization between a Pocket PC and a server or between a Smartphone and a server when these mobile devices are in suspended mode. PIM data may be lost or corrupted if the following conditions are true:
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, contact the provider of the encryption software for additional assistance. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. APPLIES TO
