Some DVD players may not recognize a DVD that you create by using Windows XP Media Center EditionArticle ID: 896476 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMSSome DVD players may not recognize a DVD that you create by using Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition. CAUSEThis problem occurs because Media Center creates a VIDEO_TS folder and an OpenDVD folder when you use Windows XP Media Center Edition to create a DVD. This behavior follows the DVD-V specification for creating DVDs. Most DVD players recognize DVDs in this format. However, some DVD players recognize only DVDs in the DVD-R format. This format does not use an OpenDVD folder. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, copy the DVD to a local
hard disk. Then, create a DVD by using non-Microsoft
software that does not create the OpenDVD folder. Technical support for Media CenterBecause Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition was included with your hardware device or system, the hardware manufacturer provides technical support and assistance for this software. Your manufacturer may have customized the installation with unique components such as specific device drivers and optional settings to maximize the performance of that manufacturer's hardware. If you require technical help with Windows XP Media Center Edition, contact your manufacturer directly because the manufacturer is best qualified to support the software that the manufacturer has installed on the hardware. You can also visit the Windows XP Media Center Edition product information Web site at the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/
