You create a VC++ project and, in the linker options of the Project Properties, you have accidentally included an extra period('.') in the
"Project Properties->Configuration Properties->Linker->Input->Additional Dependencies"
For example this may be something like :
Visual Studio IDE may crash with an Access Violation. You may get a "Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 has encountered a problem and needs to close." message.
In the Event Viewer, you may see the following Application error log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Time: 7:28:48 PM
Faulting application devenv.exe, version 9.0.21022.8, stamp 47317b3d, faulting module vcprojectengine.dll, version 9.0.21022.8, stamp 47318038, debug? 0, fault address 0x0008c7c1.
The VC project engine doesn't properly handle the extra period when determining project dependencies the first time after the list is modified. We are currently investigating the issue.
Remove the extra period('.') from
Project Properties->Configuration Properties->Linker->Input->Additional Dependencies.
