File Appears to Be Downloading but Is Not

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to download a file from a Web site, the Copying dialog box may appear (containing two folder icons with page images moving between them), but the File Download dialog box may not appear.

In this case, you may be unable to download a file.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if McAfee Safe & Sound is installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Contact McAfee for more information about this issue, and for possible updates to the program.

Method 2

To work around this issue, remove McAfee Safe & Sound from your computer. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Select McAfee Safe & Sound in the list, and then click the Add/Remove button.
  4. Follow the instructions to completely remove the program from the system.
  5. Restart your computer.
