Summary

This article describes the Microsoft Excel 2010 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated November 2, 2012.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Excel crashes intermittently if the file has an Auto_Open() macro that calls the ThisWorkbook_Close() method to close itself.

  • The ReadOnly property of an Excel workbook returns a value of False from VBA when you open a workbook in read-only mode from a SharePoint document library.

  • When you import an HTML file that contains images that include hyperlinks to Excel 2010, the hyperlinks are missing the last character of the URL. Therefore, the links cannot be used, and you receive the following error message:

Unable to open <the URL link that is missed the last character>. The Internet site reports that the item you requested could not be found. (HTTP/1.0 404)

  • Assume that the default save-file format is set to Excel 97-2003 Workbook (.xls) in Excel 2010. When you send a shared .xlsx file as an attachment in an email message, and the file has an .xlsx file name extension but has BIFF8 content, you cannot open the file. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Excel cannot open the file FileName.xlsx because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.

Note This problem occurs only when the workbook is shared and when the default save-format does not match the format of the workbook that is sent.

  • 2760378  Image is not updated immediately when the Application. ScreenUpdating property is set to False in Excel 2010
