Symptoms

Assume that you upload a corrupted .xlsx, .pptx, or .docx file to a Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 server. However, when you try to view the file in a web browser by using certain shared services, SharePoint consumes a large amount of memory. Additionally, the server freezes.

For example, you upload an .xlsx file that contains unreadable content to a SharePoint server. However, when you try to view the file by using Excel Services, all memory on the server is consumed and the server freezes.
