Introduction

This article describes an update that is available for Microsoft Software License Terms for OEM versions of Windows 8. 

This update resolves the following issues.

Issue 1

Assume that you have a Language Interface Pack (LIP) installed on a computer that is running an OEM version of Windows 8. In this situation, the Windows 7 license terms are stored on the computer instead of Windows 8 license terms.

Issue 2

Assume that you install a LIP on a computer that is running an OEM version of Windows 8. In this situation, you unexpectedly find Windows 7 license terms on the computer.

For example, you can view the license terms in the Action Center, or the license terms are displayed when you run the Winver.exe command.

Note The issues that are described in this article do not occur on the following LIPs:

  • Basque

  • Catalan

  • Galician

  • Valencian

  • Malay
