BUG #: 352555 (SHILOH_BUGS)
You can create database maintenance plans from an Enterprise Manager client connected to a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000). However, if you try to start one of the jobs generated by the Database Maintenance Plan Wizard, the following error occurs:
If you review the job history and select the option Show step details, you will see the following text in the details for step 1:
The job failed. The Job was invoked by User User_Name. The last step to run was step 1 (Step 1).
This message occurs for all jobs generated by the Database Maintenance Plan Wizard. However, manually generated jobs (for example, backup jobs) work correctly.
Failed executing API: CreateProcess. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029). The step failed.
MSDE 2000 does not install Sqlmaint.exe, the Database Maintenance Plan Wizard execution engine.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
