Summary

This article describes the activation tool for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 on a computer that is running Windows Small Business Server 2008.

Symptoms

You have a server that is running Windows Small Business Server 2008. You reinstall or repair the current installation of Exchange Server 2007 on the server. Then Exchange Server 2007 unexpectedly changes to trial mode, and you receive warning messages that ask you to activate Exchange Server 2007.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Known issues in this hotfix

This tool is available in only an English version. When you run this tool, the tool may inform you that you can find a log file in the following path:

C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Logs\KB975263.LOGNote If the server is running a localized language version of Windows Server 2008, the folder name of "Program Files" may appear in a localized name. In this case, you have to open the "Program Files" folder that has the localized name to access the log file.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, your computer must be running Windows Small Business Server 2008.

To use the hotfix in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
