Microsoft Office XP transitions from Mainstream to Extended Support phase

Customer notification about the end of Mainstream Support for Microsoft Office XP products

Mainstream Support for Office XP is scheduled to end on July 11, 2006. After that date, Office XP will be in the Extended Support phase for 5 years — until July 12, 2011.

Microsoft is transitioning these products to the Extended Support phase as part of the Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy for Business and Developer Products. For more information about the Microsoft Support Lifecycle and Extended Support, visit http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/.

Key dates:

• Microsoft Office XP was released on May 31, 2001. According to the Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy for Business and Developer products, Microsoft will provide a minimum of 10 years of support for Office XP (5 years of Mainstream Support and 5 years of Extended Support).
• The original mainstream support end date for Office XP was May 5, 2006.
• In January 2006, Microsoft announced an adjustment to the Microsoft Support Lifecycle expiration dates, moving the end of mainstream support date for Microsoft Office XP to July 11, 2006. Details about this announcement are at http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifean17/.
