Microsoft announces support extension for Microsoft Content Management Server 2002
To comply with the Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy, Microsoft has announced a support extension for Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 Standard Edition and Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 Enterprise Edition. Therefore, Mainstream Support for Content Management Server 2002 will end on April 14, 2009, and Extended Support will end on April 8, 2014.
According to the Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy, Mainstream Support for Business and Developer products is provided for five years or for two years after the successor product (N+1) is released, whichever is longer. Because Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is considered the successor product for Content Management Server (CMS) 2002, we have determined that support for CMS 2002 should be extended. The date was determined after Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 was released.
Organizations that are currently running Content Management Server 2002 should note the dates when Mainstream Support and Extended Support end. Customers who want to learn more about the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 should contact their account representative or technical account manager.
The goal of the Microsoft Support Lifecycle is to provide predictable and consistent product support timelines for all our products and customers, worldwide. Information about the Microsoft Support Lifecycle is at http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle.
