Method A Display Web sites in Compatibility View
A Web pages designed for earlier versions of Internet Explorer might not work correctly in Internet Explorer 8. If images, menus, or text are out of place, or if Internet Explorer stops working on some Web sites, you can configure Internet Explorer 8 to display these Web sites in Compatibility View. In Compatibility View, Internet Explorer 8 displays the Web sites like Internet Explorer 7.

To turn on Compatibility View, follow these steps.
Step 1  

If the problem only occurs on a few Web sites, and Internet Explorer is still usable when you open these Web sites, turn on Compatibility View for only the Web sites that are causing a problem. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Internet Explorer, open a Web site that is causing a problem.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Compatibility View.
    Note If Compatibility View is not available, the Web site only runs in Compatibility View or Internet Explorer 8 mode. If this is true for you, try Method 1A.
  3. Repeat steps a and b for each Web site that is causing a problem.
    Internet Explorer 8 now displays these Web sites like Internet Explorer 7. Use the Web sites that caused the problem and verify that you can now use them correctly. Then see the Method A verification and next steps.
Step 2  

If the problem occurs on most Web sites, or if Internet Explorer is unusable on the Web sites that are causing problems, turn on Compatibility View for all Web sites. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Compatibility View Settings.
  3. In the Compatibility View Settings dialog box, click to select the Display all websites in Compatibility View box.
  4. Click Close.
    Internet Explorer 8 now displays these Web sites like Internet Explorer 7. Use the Web sites that caused the problem and verify that you can now use them correctly. Then see the Method A verification and next steps.
Verification Method A verification and next steps

Check whether the Internet Explorer problem is resolved. If you know that this problem occurred by visiting particular Web pages or by following certain steps, try that now to see whether the problem still occurs. If the problem occurred intermittently, you might have to use Internet Explorer for several days before you can determine whether the problem is resolved..
