Your environment Let's verify the versions of Windows and Internet Explorer that you are running.

To verify the version of Windows that you are running, follow these steps:

1 Click Start or click Start Search, and then click Run.
2 Type msinfo32 in the Open box, and then click OK.
3 Locate your version of Windows next to the OS Name line.

Note You will need this information at the bottom of the page, so you may want to make a note of it.

If you can use Internet Explorer, follow these steps to verify the version of Internet Explorer that you are running:

1 Start Internet Explorer.
2 Click About Internet Explorer on the Help menu. Your version of Internet Explorer is listed here.

If you cannot use Internet Explorer, follow these steps to verify the version of Internet Explorer that you are running:

1 Click Start, and then click Run.
2 Type the following command (or copy it and paste it) in the Open box, and then click OK:

cmd /k reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer" /v Version
3 A Command Prompt window opens and displays your Internet Explorer version in a format that resembles the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Version REG_SZ 6.00.2900.2180


The first number is your Internet Explorer version. In this example, the version is Internet Explorer 6.
