How to download and install the latest printer driver from your printer manufacturer's Web site

Before you start

Introduction | Before you start

 Before you start
To use these steps, you have to be logged on to the computer with an administrator account. Chances are that you are already logged on with an administrator account. We can help you verify that if you are not sure. If you are not logged on with an administrator account, you must know the name and the password of an administrator account on the computer. If you do not know this information, unfortunately this content cannot help you. If that is the case, you might want to ask someone that you know for help, or you might want to contact support.

Before you start, you must also know the following information:

  • The Windows XP platform type on your computer. For example, the platform type might be listed as 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64).
  • The make and model of the printer that you are trying to connect.

I'm logged on as an administrator and know the other information, so I'm ready to visit my printer manufacturer's Web site to find the latest printer driver.

If you need help verifying some or all of this information, what do you need help with? If you need help with all these things, please follow the order in which they are listed here.
