PUB: Picture With Irregular Wrap, Border Becomes Enormous Blob

If you format a picture to have a border and then give it an irregular wrap, the border may become a solid mass that conceals the entire picture. This is more likely to occur if the border is at least 8 points wide, and if the picture is rather small (approximately 3 inches by 2.5 inches, or smaller).

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

To avoid this problem, do one of the following:

• Scale the picture larger.
  
  -or-
• Use a border narrower than 8 point.
  
  -or-
• Do not use a border on a graphic that is formatted for irregular wrap.

Borders do not look very good on irregular wrap graphics. The border follows the edge of the irregular wrap polygon, not the exact outer edge of the image. To make a border look acceptable on an irregular wrap graphic, you may need to use a narrow border and also carefully customize the irregular wrap polygon so that it smoothly follows the contours of the picture.
