SYMPTOMS

The Zeos 486SL Freestyle Notebook miscalculates various numeric values entered in either the Works for Windows 2.0a Spreadsheet or Database module. Below are some examples of the miscalculations:
   Entry Result
   ----- ------

   18.53 80
   18.5300 68
   11.5 24
   11.50 80
   9.99 18

MORE INFORMATION

Zeos has confirmed this to be a problem with its A-O step 486SL Floating Point Unit. The problem results in erroneous results when some combinations of floating-point instructions are executed. It is the result of a mechanism in the 486SL that attempts to conserve power by automatically stopping the FPU clock when it is not being used.

WORKAROUND

Disable the auto FPU stop clock feature.

RESOLUTION

Zeos has created a floating-point utility specifically designed to correct this problem. You can obtain this utility by contacting Zeos technical support or downloading the file FS486FP.EXE from the Zeos BBS.
