You can use the Microsoft PowerPoint, version 7.0 16-bit Viewer for Windows to display PowerPoint electronic slide shows under Windows if you don't have Microsoft PowerPoint installed. The PowerPoint Viewer runs on Windows 3.1 and later, Windows NT 3.5 and later, and on Windows 95. It allows you to view PowerPoint files created and saved in PowerPoint for Windows, versions 2.0 through 4.0, PowerPoint for Windows 95, version 7.0, or PowerPoint for the Macintosh, versions 3.0 through 4.0.
Microsoft has placed the Viewer for Windows in a self-extracting file named Pptvw16.exe on several online information sources. For more information about downloading this file from online services, see the section of this article called "To Obtain Pptvw16.exe."
In addition, Pptvw16.exe contains a translator for PowerPoint 4.0 for Windows. When you install this translator, PowerPoint 4.0 can open and edit presentation files created in PowerPoint for Windows 95, version 7.0.
You can copy and distribute the PowerPoint Viewer and Translator on a disk, which you can create by following the instructions in the Readme.txt file contained in Pptvw16.exe.
