XL97: Memory Errors Appear When You Calculate a Custom Function in a Cell

SYMPTOMS

When you recalculate formulas in a worksheet, you may receive the following error message:
Not Enough Memory. Continue without Undo?
When you click OK or Cancel, the following error message appears:
Not Enough Memory.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • You are using a custom function that is contained in an add-in. -and-

  • You repeatedly press F2 and then press ENTER to recalculate the custom function in a cell.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, obtain Microsoft Excel 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).
