SYMPTOMS

When you insert a Microsoft Data Map object into a Publisher file, the zoom button sticks, causing the zoom '+' and '-' buttons to zoom either to 400% or to 10%. Moving the mouse pointer away from the + or - stops the locked zoom process.

CAUSE

The insertion of the Data Map object causes a software interrupt that prevents the information about the zoom control being released from reaching Publisher. This is why it continues to zoom either in or out.

WORKAROUND

To set the desired zoom percentage in Publisher, click the zoom percentage box on the bottom toolbar. This will display a list of all the zoom sizes from 10% to 400%. Select the zoom you want and it will immediately zoom to that percentage.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Microsoft Data Map. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Publisher 3.0 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Publisher 97 Standard Edition
