Article ID: 137637 - Last Review: February 22, 2007 - Revision: 4.3 Microsoft ODBC SQL Server Driver is not certified for use against Sybase SQL Servers
This article was previously published under Q137637 SUMMARY
The current Microsoft ODBC SQL Server Driver is not certified for use
against Sybase SQL Servers.
MORE INFORMATION
As noted in the documentation that comes with the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC
Driver, the 2.00.1912 or later versions of the Microsoft drivers are
certified for use only with Microsoft SQL Servers (the 2.00.1912 driver
shipped with SQL Server 4.21a). Though older versions of the Microsoft SQL
Server ODBC Driver could be connected to older versions of Sybase SQL
Servers, if you now need to connect to Sybase SQL Servers you should
contact ODBC vendors who are in the market of providing drivers for Sybase.
The current ODBC drivers provided by Microsoft are optimized to work with
Microsoft SQL Server and depend on features present in the Microsoft
product.
If you need to connect to Sybase SQL Servers, you can still do so by using SQL Server ODBC drivers available from other vendors. You can contact Sybase Corporation for drivers certified for use against Sybase SQL Servers. Many third party ODBC vendors also provide ODBC drivers certified for use against Sybase. Some of the third party drivers can be used to connect to both Microsoft and Sybase SQL Servers. APPLIES TO
