SYMPTOMS

If you print a publication to a Scitex Dolev imagesetter and your paper size is larger than tabloid (11-by-17-inch paper), the printout will be rotated 90 degrees.

This problem occurs if you are using the Microsoft Publisher Imagesetter printer driver that ships with Publisher 3.0.

CAUSE

The Scitex Dolev requires special codes to correctly handle paper sizes that are larger than tabloid. These codes are unique to Scitex. Since the Microsoft Publisher Imagesetter driver is designed to work with many common imagesetters, it does not provide these proprietary codes.

RESOLUTION

The Scitex Dolev has a workstation-style display that you can use to preview your print job, and utilities to manipulate that print job. If your print job previews incorrectly, you can change the orientation before it actually prints.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
