Works: General Protection Fault When Printing to Trio Fax

When you attempt to print from Works and your default printer is Trio Data/Fax, you may receive the following error message: Clicking the Details button reveals the following additional information:

This may happen if both of the following are true:

• Your default printer is set to Trio Data/Fax using driver version 5.0.
  -and-
• The Color Palette for your graphics card is set to display high colors (more than 256).

You can resolve this error by choosing another printer as your default printer. However, if you need to use the Trio Data/Fax program to fax the Works document, you must set your Color Palette to 256 colors or less.

To set your Color Palette do the following:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Display icon.
3. On the Settings tab, change the Color Palette to 256 Colors.
4. Click OK.
5. Click Yes to restart the computer.

You can now print to the Trio fax software without difficulty.
