Importing Address Books into Internet Mail for Windows 95

This article describes how to import personal addresses from Microsoft Exchange or Windows Messaging into Internet Mail and News for Windows 95.

To import addresses, follow these steps:

1. On the File menu, click Import, and then click Address Book.
2. Click the program from which you are importing, and then click Import.

This procedure imports addresses from your Personal Address Book (.pab) file. Note that Fax addresses are not imported because there is no fax capability in Internet Mail and News. The Import command uses the default user profile in selecting the personal address book file from which to import. There must be a profile in Microsoft Exchange or Windows Messaging that points to a valid address book (.pab) file for you to import addresses from Microsoft Exchange or Windows Messaging. With third-party address books (such as Eudora Light and Netscape Mail), you are prompted to browse for the address book file. Address books that are in text format also do not require a profile to exist.

Currently, Internet Mail and News can import addresses from Microsoft Exchange, Windows Messaging, Microsoft Internet Mail and News for Windows 3.1, Eudora Light, and Netscape Mail. Future releases of Internet Mail and News are planned to have additional import and export capabilities.
