When you save a Microsoft Excel 5.0 or 7.0 workbook in the Microsoft Excel
97 file format, you may receive the following warning:
<Workbook name> contains sound notes.
If you save <Workbook name> in Microsoft Excel 97 format, the sound notes will be permanently lost. To keep the sound notes, make a copy of the workbook, and then open the copy only in Microsoft Excel 5.0 or Microsoft Excel 95. Do you want to save this workbook in Microsoft Excel 97 format? CAUSE
This problem may occur if all of the following conditions are true:
WORKAROUND
To workaround this problem, delete the worksheet that contains the sound
note, and then save the file in the "Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook"
format. Then, close the workbook and reopen it. After you reopen the file,
save the workbook in the Microsoft Excel 97 format.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for
Windows.
