The Microsoft SideWinder digital game controllers listed at the beginning of this article are not compatible with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.
When you attempt to install the SideWinder Game Controller software on a
Windows NT-based computer that uses an Intel-based processor, you receive
one of the following error messages:
| • | Setup can't install the SideWinder Gaming Devices software on your
current operating system. Check your SideWinder Gaming Devices
product packaging for system requirements. A limitation exists with your computer's resources or
configuration. Setup can't install SideWinder Game Controller
Software on your current operating system. Check your SideWinder
Game Controller Software product packaging for system
requirements. The procedure entry point... ...could not be located in the dynamic
link library Kernel32.dll. |
If you attempt to install the SideWinder Game Controller software on a
Windows NT-based computer with an Alpha, MIPS, or PowerPC processor, you
receive an error message similar to the following message:
The image file Swndr15.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than
the current machine.
If the Setup program stops responding, use Task Manager to end the
process, and then delete the ~Ms_gam~.tmp folder.
SideWinder 3D Pro drivers are available for Windows NT 4.0 Workstation.
The updated drivers are included in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4. These
drivers allow for basic functionality of the SideWinder 3D Pro joystick,
they do not work with other SideWinder game controllers.
